About Project Rojgar

Project Rojgar is an impactful initiative founded by 15 year old Armaan Tekriwal, a Student of La Martiniere , Kolkata, aimed at empowering labourers by upskilling them for better job opportunities. The goal is to train low wage workers like plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and other tradespeople to gain new, versatile skills that can help them increase their earning potential and become more self-sufficient. It also aims to train women in various skills and help them become financially independent .

Project Rojgar: Empowering Through Skill and Dignity

Project Rojgar is a grassroots initiative aligned with the vision of the National Rural Skills Development Mission to equip rural and semi-urban communities with employable skills, fostering self-reliance and dignified livelihoods. Rooted in the belief that true empowerment stems from opportunity and capability, Project Rojgar is committed to upskilling underserved individuals and transforming them into economically independent contributors to society.

Our Mission

To bridge the gap between underutilized human potential and meaningful employment by providing targeted, hands-on vocational training that meets the real demands of the economy.

Key Impact Areas

1.Upskilling Informal Workers:
  • Golf Caddies to Carpenters & Electricians: In a pioneering step, Project Rojgar trained golf caddies—often seasonal and underpaid workers—in basic carpentry and electrical work, enabling them to find more stable and skilled employment opportunities.
  • Plumbers and Gardeners to Multi-skilled Technicians: Building plumbers and gardeners from low-income communities were trained to become assistant electricians and carpenters, broadening their scope of work and increasing their earning potential.
2.Empowering Rural Women Through Traditional Arts:
  • In collaboration with FICCI FLOW, Project Rojgar has empowered over 200 women from Shantiniketan and Bolpur by training them in traditional crafts such as batik, dyeing, hand embroidery, and block printing.
  • These women, many of whom had no prior formal employment, are now engaged in sustainable livelihood activities, producing high-quality handcrafted goods for the local and urban markets.
3.Sustainable Employment Outcomes:
  • Many of the trained electricians and carpenters are now working as assistants in part-time roles, building their experience and confidence as they transition toward independent employment.
  • The women artisans are being connected to platforms that ensure visibility and regular income through craft exhibitions and online retail opportunities.

Partnership & Support

Through its association with Ficci Flo  and local grassroots organizations, Project Rojgar has built a model of inclusive skill-building that emphasizes hands-on training, mentorship, and employment linkage.

Looking Ahead

Project Rojgar aims to scale its impact by replicating this model across other parts of rural India, focusing on both non-traditional skill training for men and revival of indigenous crafts for women. Our goal is to nurture a generation of skilled workers who are not just job seekers, but job creators.
